Rebekah's Quilt

Sara Harris makes her home with her family of seven, which includes her romance novelesque husband and her five children.

She holds her BA in history and is currently back in school seeking her BSN.

An Amish settlement. An English stranger. The Blizzard of 1888. Who can Rebekah trust when the line between the Amish and the English becomes blurred?

A sweet and gentle love blossoms between Rebekah Stoll and her childhood friend Joseph Graber, despite attempts by her saucy nemesis, Katie Knepp, to sway the young man's affections her way.

When Joseph hints at the promise of forever, Rebekah is positive she should say yes to his proposal - until a mysterious English stranger shows up at her homestead and sets everything she thought she knew about her world on end.

Snippet:

Over the remaining two days of their trip, the wagon train of Amish families, moving south from Canada, only saw each other.

Elnora whispered to Heloise as they approached their final stop. “Not a single wagon filled with English people has passed.”

Heloise, however, was much too charmed with Rebekah to be bothered with watching for English wagons. “Such a good-natured baby!” Her voice was awestruck. “At this age, Joseph did nothing but cry.”

Turning her attention back to the baby, Elnora cupped Rebekah’s silken head in her palm and stroked the blonde wisps above her tiny ears. “And she has so much hair!” Elnora’s voice was equally awestruck.

Heloise narrowed her wise, blue eyes. “That means she will be healthy.”

“We’re home!” Samuel announced. “Wilkommen to Daviess County, Indiana Territory!”

Elnora plopped Rebekah into a quilt-lined basket. Her eyes welled as Samuel helped her from the wagon. “Oh Samuel, it looks just like Germany!”

He beamed. “So you are happy then?”

“I am so happy! Danke! What a beautiful place to raise a family. And there is ample wood for your woodworking -” Shifting, Elnora gestured wide with one arm toward the thick woods that ringed the clearing. Oak trees that seemed to scratch the floor of heaven stood tall and majestic, their leaves waving in the tender breeze. Shorter, wider trees blooming in varying shades of snowy white and blush pinks punctuated the deep greens and browns of the oaks, giving the entire area a magical feel.         Samuel’s large hand came to rest on her shoulder, disrupting her gracious spiel.

“Dear Wife, I will go in to Montgomery tomorrow to find an English family to take the child. It will be best for everyone if she is with her own kind.”

Elnora sucked in a hard breath and willed the sudden fringe of tears not to spill onto her cheeks. She held Samuel’s gaze. There she saw the same dull ache she felt beneath her ribs.

With a calming breath, the threat of tears subsided and Elnora’s face softened. She patted her husband’s hand. “If it is best for Rebekah, then you must do as you will,” she agreed. The tugging on the tender ends of her shattered heart, however, didn’t concur.

A Doorway Back to Forever: Believe

Best friends share everything, right? Unless it’s a secret that could cost them their lives. Robyn and Kit are born with forbidden magic-sense, the power to see and hear beyond Earthly sight and sound. It’s a curse that haunts them, but the girls are strangely drawn to it—could there be more to this power than they’ve been told?

When they spill their secret, it opens a doorway back to Forever—a beautiful realm where magic-sense began. They learn the truth: they have been given a noble gift. It connects them to the Skyborn royalty of this new world. They’ve been summoned back by the forces for good to preserve the kingdom and revive the power where it once flourished—on Earth. It can thrive again, if Robyn and Kit are brave enough to follow.
However, the doorway awakens more than magical fairy-tales. A dark force is unleashed—one that has battled the Skyborn since time began, and it wants the girls dead, the Earth destroyed.

Beyond the doorway is where the adventure begins—trickery, kidnapping, a prison break, rescue teams, sword fights, magical gold-dust, holographic medallions, and singing orbs—but only for those who have the courage to believe.

Excerpt Two: Kit follows Robyn home after Logan’s gang attacks her.

Robyn’s forehead pounded harder, and her eyes narrowed as she fought back another wave of tears. She turned to face the sink again. “I told you to go home.”

“I’m not going home.”

Robyn snorted and shook her head in disbelief. “What—are you gonna make fun of me too?” Her throat caught, and she bit her lip hard to stop the tears. It didn’t work.

“No. I’m your friend. And I’m not going anywhere.”

Robyn’s head dropped and her shoulders began to shake. She couldn’t contain the sobs. Kit rushed to her and wrapped her dusty arms around Robyn. She rested her head between Robyn’s shoulder blades and cried all over her shirt. Robyn tried to turn around, but Kit’s arms were too tight. She finally broke free and the girls faced each other, giving in to a long sympathy hug.

“You’re a mess,” Robyn managed to say between waves of sobs and laughter.

“Me? Your glasses are bent.”

They laughed all over again. If anything, it eased the shock of the attack, even for a moment.

After cleaning up a bit and grabbing some black-and-white bakery cookies, they headed upstairs. In the privacy of her room, Robyn felt strength rise within her. There was no turning back now.

But he has pressing responsibilities pulling him back to England while Merry’s require her to stay. Do they dare risk getting involved only to say goodbye?"

Snippet:

The door opened behind them, and Merry glanced over her shoulder. A dark-haired man, wearing an expensive overcoat and shoes that screamed money, had entered, his attention focused on his phone.

“Papa!” Grace cried.

So, this was her father. Usually, her nanny picked her up.

The man glanced up from his phone, and his gaze landed on his daughter. When he noticed how close she stood to Alex, he raised one of his highbrows but said nothing. Barely glancing at Merry, he stepped to the computer used for checking children in and out.

“Come, Grace. We must hurry.” He had a hint of an English accent, which might have something to do with his daughter’s advanced vocabulary. Grace didn’t sound like a child just shy of five. It made Merry think of Trish Johnson’s perfect gentleman. Was this him?

Snippet:

Chase settled his arm around her shoulders and pulled her against his side in a brotherly hug. “You know we love to have you anytime you can visit.”

“I do know that and am grateful for the standing invitation.” Ashley smiled up at her cousin while a tiny tornado swept into the kitchen.

Corkscrew curls the color of straw bounced in every direction as the little girl launched herself at Wyatt. He swung her into his arms and kissed her rosy cheek. The little one looked like a miniature replica of Sarah.

“Hi!” the child greeted with a broad smile that showed off a missing space in her front teeth.

“Hi, Livy.” Jessie smiled at the little girl. “Are you keeping your Uncle Wyatt busy while he’s here?”

“Yep! We watched a movie last night about the bear ’cessities. It was awesome! But Uncle Wyatt said he’s missing some of the ’cessities. I told him he needs a wife and babies.” Livy wiggled against Wyatt, so he set her on her feet.

She rushed over to Ashley and took her hand in hers. “Hi! I’m Livy. Wyatt’s my uncle, and that’s my mama, Sarah. My daddy is washing up, then we can eat. I’m starving to death! You’re pretty and smell nice, too.”

The little imp turned toward Wyatt. “Did you smell her, Uncle Wyatt? She smells good. Maybe she’d be your wife, and you could have babies, Uncle Wyatt.”
